The Safety at Sports and Recreation Events Act No.2 (SASREA) came into effect in 2010 and the Event Safety Standard SANS 10366 in 2015, yet if you ask most event practitioners from event organisers to service providers about these acts, all too often you will be met with a blank and frightened stare.

Most stakeholders have heard of the act, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty of compliance, few stakeholders have the requisite knowledge to ensure proper compliance with the relevant legislation and even fewer can tell you what to do and how to go about ensuring your event meets legal requirements.

EON's Introduction to Health & Safety at Events Workshop is designed to address these shortfalls in knowledge and skills. The aim is to give attendees an overview of the critical elements of event health and safety compliance.

In terms of legislation, the course will answer questions like:

  • What is an even?
  • Which events are exempt?
  • Who is responsible for event health and safety?
  • How do you create and implement and event health and safety plan?
  • Who needs to do what and by when?
  • What are the risks of non-compliance?
